Sometimes when I buy old or broken beaded jewellery I will break them down into their beaded parts, sorting them into bags to be used in future projects. I recently got a request to make a black and white kilt pin brooch, as I opened the draw filled with little bags of beads it was like discovering treasure. I had forgotten about so many of them.
Seeing them again after all this time inspired me to design and make 10 new brooches. When designing I can go for weeks when I really struggle for new ideas and then days like this one where I am flooded with creative thoughts.
These kilt pin, stitch marker brooches are made with repurposed beads, once discarded at the bottom of a charity shop box.
